Home Health

The Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Home Health Agency is a 2014 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award winner. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing facilities that consistently achieve the 95th percentile of performance in Patient Experience in Home Health.

The agency provides skilled nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, home health aide services and medical social services to individuals of all ages in Greene and Clay counties. We also provide lifeline, homemaker and personal care services. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, private pay and are also an Elder Choices Provider. Our home health center was the first hospital-based program in a five state area and is one of the top providers of home health in the nation. 

To qualify for Home Health under Medicare you must:

  1. Be homebound
  2. Have a skilled need
  3. Be under the care of a physician  

Homebound Status
A person is considered homebound if they have normal inability to leave home. They are allowed brief and infrequent absences from their home for non-medical reasons. Homebound status is not affected by absences to receive medical treatment or to attend religious services.

A person is NOT considered homebound if they are frequently absent from home for social reasons, for shopping, or for business.

Skilled Need
Skilled needs that qualify an individual for Home Health include the following:

  • Skilled Observation and Assessment
  • Management and Evaluation
  • Teaching and Training
  • Administration of Medications
  • Diabetic Care
  • IV Drug Therapy
  • Therapeutic Drug Monitoring for new or changed medications
  • Wound Care
  • Physical Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Foley Catheter Care

Under The Care Of A Physician
The Home Health Plan of Care must be established by the physician in conjunction with the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Home Health Nurse.

Other Services
In addition to traditional Medicare patients, the Home Health Center at AMMC also cares for patients of all ages including High-Risk Pediatric Patients and OB Patients.
